done moving out. our ex-landlord had us disassemble our lofts in the end. great art is not for everyone i guess. the neighbors carted away the scrap lumber about as fast as we could carry it out. if the speed at which the amazing angled ladder i built was snatched up is any indicator, it is in the construction of wood ladders that the best potential business opportunity presents itself.
the end of an era- the end the great experiment in lofted living. the year in chicago has been transformative. on arrival i was quick. quick to build. quick to rent, quick to disassemble bicycles.
a year of experience later (construction of lofts, construction in rental spaces, bad landlords and pushy salesmen and countless bike projects) i'm more cautious. more discerning. it's time now only to investing in projects worthy of the time and money they require.
farsheed and i rented a place to live. a two bedroom with a LOT of space. i'll build a simple loft frame in the bike room. it'll take a little time, as i have to ensure that walls and floor are protected. it'll be sweet.
