Memory is a strange beast. I put this red colander (99 cent bin at target) on my head to carry it in from the car outside (hands were full), and the thought of how I must appear in my red colander-hat conjured a memory of a children's book that I must last have read or even thought about over 20 years ago.

Is this even possible?

After googlin' around some, the memory is from a 1983 British children's book called "Whatever Next" by Jill Murphy. It features a bear who puts a colander on his head and flies off into space in I think a cardboard box.

In the imho brilliant synecdoche of Kanye West:

/Tell me now can you make it past your Caspers /
/So we can finally fly off into NASA/ ...

Based on prior experience, a colander on the head is an excellent idea for Halloween--
